Interviewing Tips - For Entry Level

The works when it comes to interviewing and landing that job you have been looking for....

1. DO YOUR HOMEWORK - Make sure to research the company you set to interview with. You want to be READY at all times. The interviewer may ask you questions that relate to the company and you should be ready to answer. This shows the interviewer that you are responsible and very much interested in the company.

2. GET COMFORTABLE - Practice the interview with a friend and act as though you are in interview setting. Avoid being nervous and jittery. Work on appearing calm and confident.

3. FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF - Familiarize yourself with common interview questions such as "What motivates you?", " What are some of your accomplishments throughout high school and college?", "Name one of your weaknesses?"

4. GO OVER YOUR RESUME - Ensure that you know everything that is in your resume. You should be able to explain every single point within your resume in the case that you are asked.

5. EXTRA COPIES - Have at least 10-15 copies of your resume handy - Use a a leather folder / portfolio as it looks very professional and neat.

6. BUSINESS ATTIRE - Wear preferrably a navy blue/ dark colored suit(make sure its no bag - it should be taylored) - Wear either a white of light blue dress shirt and a one or two colored tie (avoid too much matching and two many colors). Also make sure that only colors you should have for dress shoes should
black and brown - any other color shoe would only give off the wrong image and a bad impression.

7. BE ON TIME - Always be on time for anything you do. Showing up late for an interview is a NO NO. If you know you are running late, let your recruiter or interviewer know that perhaps you are having train troubles, stuck in traffic etc. Courtesy here goes a long way!!!!

8. FIRM HANDSHAKE - A firm handshake says you MEAN BUSINESS!!! It also says that you are CONFIDENT. A not so firm handshake says that you are either nervous or just not confident at all. People are attracted to confident people - shyness is shunned upon. When you shake hands with the interviewer make sure to look them in the eyes, that also dispells confidence and that you have nothing to hide. NEVER shake a persons hand and look away, it gives off the wrong impression.

9. SIT RELAXED - DO NOT sit in front of the interviewer with your hands on your knees - to the interviewer it says that you are nervous and not sure of yourself. Cross your legs if have to and sit back in your seat - to the interviewer that says that you are confident in yourself and your abilities.

10. THANK THE INTERVIEWER - Always make sure to thank the interviewer once the interview has come to an end.  This says that you appreciated them taking the time to meet with you.
